Often lyrics were hard to read and had been Xeroxed over and over again. So we made our own booklet of Bhajans that we could use during our monthly Bhajan gatherings. The Bhajans are available in Gujarati and Hindi and English Transliteration. In the near future, we will also add the translation in English for those of people who do not. Ever heard a bhajan (devotional song) or prarthna (prayer) and wondered what it meant? So I went looking online for the English translation and meaning of some Gujarati and Hindi bhajans. I didn't have much success so I decided to put things together for myself with the help of a few language 'experts'! It's not perfect.
BhajanSangrah.com is a collection of songs found in the Bhajan Sangrah (Gujarati Hymnal Book) distributed by Gujarat Tract and Book Society. This website aims to offer access to the hymnal in both Gujarati and in Phonetic English. We hope that we can add sections for music sheet and tunes of the songs, together as a community. The site is created in a similar format to Wikipedia.com so that as a community we can expand the collection of hymns with new additions of songs, tunes, music sheets (guitar/piano etc), history of the song/artist, and song translation.
